The Fire, The Romance, The Passion

Fri, 25 Aug 06
7:30pm Esplanade Concert Hall

Featuring:
Lim Yau  conductor
Gordon Hunt  oboe

Repertoire/ Programme:

HANDEL – Royal Fireworks Music
R. STRAUSS – Oboe Concerto in D major
GERSHWIN –
An American In Paris
RAVEL – Bolero
Synopsis:

Composed in 1945, Strauss’ Oboe Concerto is regarded by many as one of the key works for the instrument, though sadly under-performed. Handel’s Royal Fireworks Music sounds as refreshingly vibrant today as it did when first performed in April 1749 to celebrate the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle. As much as Gershwin’s An American in Paris evokes the energy and colours of the city of romance, Ravel’s Bolero conjures up the build-up of fiery passion.

From Silent Hill 2 theme

Maria:  James honey… Did something happen to you?  After we got separated in that long hallway?  Are you confusing me with someone else?        *laughs*  You were always so forgetful…  Remember that time in the hotel…

James:  Maria…’

Maria:  You said you took everything… But you forgot that videotape we made.  I wonder if it’s still there…

James:  How do you know about that!  Aren’t you Maria’

Maria:  It doesn’t matter who I am… I’m here for you, James.

Twenty years —— Placebo

There are twenty years to go
And twenty ways to know
Who’ll wear, who’ll wear the hat

There are twenty years to go
The best of all I hope
Enjoy the ride
The medicine show

Thems the breaks
For we designer fakes
We need to concentrate on more than meets the eye

There are twenty years to go
The faithful and the low
The best of starts, the broken heart, the stone

There are twenty years to go
The punch drunk and the blow
The worst of starts, the mercy part, the phone

And thems the breaks
For we designer fakes
We need to concentrate on more than meets the eye

Thems the breaks
For we designer fakes
But it’s you i take, cause you’re the truth, not I

There are twenty years to go
A golden age I know
But all will pass will end too fast you know

There are twenty years to go
And many friends I hope
Those some may hold the rose
Some hold the rope

That’s the end – and that’s the start of it
That’s the whole – and that’s the part of it
That’s the high – and that’s the heart of it
That’s the long – and that’s the short of it
That’s the best – and that’s the test in it
That’s the doubt – the doubt, the trust in it
That’s the sight – and that’s the sound of it
That’s the gift – and that’s the trick in it

You’re the truth, not I, you’re the truth, not I
You’re the truth, not I, you’re the truth, not I
You’re the truth, not I, you’re the truth, not I
You’re the truth, not I, You’re the truth, not I.

Give classical a chance?

Hi, friends,

Are you a music lover? Tired of listening to pop only? Why not give classical music a chance?
In the last Singpaore Symphony Orchestra(SSO) concert season, I subscribed to their student booking package. I’d like to say I’m quite satisified with their performence and do appreciate their student concession.

In the 05/06 concert season, I’ll also subscribe the student booking package. To enjoy this you must book at least five concerts(not five tickets). I’ll attend seven-ten SSO concerts in the next season.
If you’d like to give classical music a chance and dun want to go five more concerts, just let me know, I can book for you at half price.
The Cat.3-6 tickets price are from S$6.5 to 19. Some Gala concerts from S$12.25 to 39.50

There are around 40 concerts in the whole season, the detail can be found http://www.sso.org.sg/events/where/catid=4
There are also some free outdoor concerts, also a good chance to get closer to the classical music.
If you need recommendation on which concert to go, can also let me know.

I don’t mind enjoying the concerts alone, but I’m sure it will be more joyful to share the music with you!~
Pls contact me in this week, I’m to finish the booking soon: )

Best Regards

Vincent. Wang Liang
